A sculptor of Romanian origin, Andreea Zahiu now lives and works in Brittany where she has her workshop. It was in Oxford, England, where she lived for nearly 12 years, that she was introduced to woodworking with passion. She carves and approaches with patience this natural material that she likes to consider with a life and a history of its own. She thus enters into an intimate dialogue with each essence to create works that are both powerful and intimate.

« This long term work, inscribes the body and the spirit in an intimate dialogue with the material, it reveals itself in an almost alchemical exchange, transforming at the same time the wood but also the artist. To be transformed by transforming, this is the alchemical equation that motivates my creation. »
